We were traveling through North Carolina and met our grandchildren that live in North Carolina for lunch here. We chose it because it has a pet friendly dining area. Our server, Ashley could not have been better. She was friendly and helpful with explaining items on the menu. We had to wait for the rest of our party to arrive but were seated immediately and given drinks. The menu is vast and everything we tried was made perfectly. It all came out hot and Ashley made sure we had refills and filled all our requests with a cheery attitude. This is the place you want to eat at in Morganton. Ask for Ashley and you will be taken care of as though you are family.

Abele's is a step above diner food. Chopped steak tasted great -- very fresh and with a simple beef flavor. I had it 'western' style with sauteed onions & peppers and melted cheese but the flavor of the beef stood on it's own so next time I'll get it naked. The mushroom gravy on the side was also tasty. Jan's chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had with a nice black pepper flavor in it; admittedly that's not one of my favorites though. Service was excellent, prices were reasonable. Decorations were excessive but humorous. My one disappointment was the rest room. It looked like it had been clean for the start of the day but by the time I was there (5:30 pm) it was not clean which was a bit off putting. Anyway, I'll go back next time I'm through Morganton.

Wonderful place to eat with a great variety. You may have a bit of a wait, but who wants to eat at a restaurant where the parking lot is empty? If you like down home cooking, this is the place. Service is always kind and courteous, and the food is wonderful.

Had the country fried steak and gravy, hot vegetable bar. Very good, cut the steak with a fork. Cool setting, lots to look at. Had a very, very nice waitress, sadly never got her name. I would return here, lots more items to try on the menu.

We were thrilled to find this gem on our way to the Smoky Mountains. Buffet was only $8.99 and food was amazing! True southern cooking - green beans, corn bread, homemade Mac n cheese, homemade soups, salad bar, all the fixings!! Waitress and staff were all wonderful! Charming ambiance and decor!!
