Nicely decorated restaurant.
Cocktails were excellent.
Good was well cooked and presently nicely. I had the bison medallions which were wonderfully tender and cooked to medium rare perfectly. There was a hint of flavor in the sauce that was quite nice but simply hidden away - it needed to be more forward to really make the dish go to the next level and be truly delicious.
The dessert was excellent. Blueberry lemon cheesecake. Balanced nicely with sweet and lemon tartness with the richness of the cheesecake.

An incredible dining experience. Everything was prepared with exceptional attention to detail. All courses were delicious and the presentation was flawless. The staff were so professional and friendly. I will undoubtedly return here and would highly recommend it. A true gem in Bismarck. (Pics: walleye w/barley pilaf, beet salad, and pavlova.)

Everything I’ve had here has been wonderful. It’s so nice to have a place in town that is true fine dining. The atmosphere is upscale and I never feel overdressed. The service has always been excellent and they’ve never rushed me. The food is always top notch and creative. I’m a huge fan of the specials they always have something unique on the menu. It’s hard to save room for dessert, but you should try! I highly recommend the dessert sampler.

Lovely atmosphere! Rhubarbtini was very sweet, I was expecting tart, like rhubarb. Pretty good libation regardless - the Lemon Drop hit the spot. The pork chop with rhubarb mustard was cooked perfectly and oh so delicious. Was too satiated to try any of the marvelous sounding desserts. Our server was not the best, but if I ever came back to Bismarck, I'd likely dine here again.

Made the mistake of trying to use a $200 gift certificate that my wife and I paid for in 2008 during the housing crisis.
Why did we not use them? We simply forgot we had them.
Do you have any gift certificates that you have forgotten about and wondered if you could use them?
Think of what a gift certificate really is. That $200 was essentially loaned to this business and then 13 years later, not honored. Instead of gratitude, we were snottily told that because of state law, we were out of our hard-earned money.
There is NOTHING right about this.
After being denied their use, we paid our bill with a credit card and left. As I drove away, I called to share my dismay privately thinking, they will make this right. This is after all, Pirogue Grille.
Well, it was most certainly “Pirogue Grille” but not the Pirogue Grille I thought I knew.
The person I spoke with recited state law and asked me why we could not have used the gift certificates previously.
Who does that???
Not exactly the grateful, empathetic high service response I anticipated.
Bad. Bad Customer.
