Not a great experience. We were seated immediately after arriving. The waitresses took the kids drink orders but not the adults. She brought the kids their drinks, but again never asked the adults. After about 10 minutes we flagged her down and let her know we were ready to order. We ordered our drinks with our food. The people next to us were upset because they were there before us and had not yet ordered (we were unaware of that and felt bad). The kids food came out quite quickly. My 3 year old ordered a kids cheeseburger. It came out on what looked like 2 pieces of cornbread. Turns out it was 2 pieces of extremely stale bread cut down to the size of his charred hockey puck burger. He didn't eat it! The waitresses brought the sodas for the others but not my old fashioned (it was a Friday fish fry in WI). She said mine would be right out. Needless to say it never did. Our food arrived so I went to the bar to ask since the bar was nearly empty. The bartender was trying to pour a draft beer for someone and dumped 4 glasses of foam before the person asked for a bottle instead. I asked if my old fashioned was almost ready and he said he didn't have an order for one. I reordered and he looked at me like he'd never heard of such a thing. He had to search the entire bar for whiskey (I didn't order a call brand) and couldn't find old fashioned mix. He ended up delivering it to the table for me (43 minutes after we arrived and 5 minutes after our food arrived). Only reason for 2 stars is because the fish was actually decent. However, we won't be back.

Great food, usually pretty empty, except holidays can get busy I have heard and fill up fast, reservation only those days. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served.

A VERY good fish fry was had by myself & 2 friends Jan 14th. Yummy broiled fish, loaded smashed potatoes & asparagus! Excellent service also. Thanks so much!

Monday evening dinner. Many places not open in Marshfield or any place nearby. On a whim we stopped at The Rivers restaurant in the Holiday Inn Hotel downtown Marshfield. Odd name as no rivers are near the place but was pleased with the new renovations. Also odd that no background music was playing and the acoustics are a bit of a problem. Could hear people at tables that were 20' away. But on to the good part. Drinks were reasonably priced as well as most meal options. St. Patrick's Day meal specials included the standard corned beef & cabbage, Irish stew (piping hot & very good!), shepard's pie (also hot & very good), Reuben sandwich and grilled bacon & cabbage. We also enjoyed a really nice hamburger with smothered Swiss cheese & mushrooms. Ordered it rare and, good golly, it was perfectly cooked! Steak fries also cooked perfectly. Service was cordial and adequate "but nothing to write home to your mom about." The chef was the big winner here and isn't that a huge part of what you go out for - the quality of the food and how well it is prepared?? Other interesting items on the menu as well. Most all of these food selections were reasonably priced. Clean dining and bar areas as well as rest rooms. The Rivers is worth a second visit and perhaps not just on a Monday.
