A highlight of our recent trip to Montana. Our reservation was handled with flexibility and professionalism though they were very busy. We spent time in the bar waiting for the others in our party to arrive and had some of the best cocktails I've had in a while, their house cocktails are amazing and the bartenders knowledgeable and enthusiastic, even tweaked one using an amaro I wanted to try from a local distiller. For our dinner we shared the Tomahawk steak, with sides of scallops and shrimp and it was outstanding; the meat was cooked perfectly, still thinking about it. Exactly the meal I was hoping to have while in Montana! Highly recommend.

Edit: 6/28/22- since my initial review below, 1889 has worked out the kinks, and is now my favorite restaurant in Montana. Great food, service, and environment- every time. Highly recommend! First time at 1889 last night for a business dinner. This has the makings of a great restaurant; great environment, great food, and talented serving staff. In my opinion, the difference between my three star experience and the potential five star experience, rests on the shoulders of management. The restaurant was obviously understaffed, which ruined the process. Our waiter, Luke, was obviously killing himself to cover too many tables, and also busing tables after other guests left. As a result, our service was painfully slow, and the steaks and side dishes were cool by the time they arrived. All that being said, our waiter did a great job of trying to compensate and they recognized the problem, apologized, and comped our desserts. This restaurant has all the ingredients to be a great addition to Missoula and we’ll certainly give them another chance, but management needs to get their staffing worked out so they can provide an experience worthy of the food.

I was took here for Father's day and I loved it. The food was great but very costly. But I do have to say you will get what you paid for. The steak was perfect and the desserts were incredible.
