Went in with my family for an Sunday lunch and it took well over an hour to get a mediocre meal. Well after the fact we were told it was all because they only had one cook on the line. That would have been useful information to share at the time the server came to table before we ordered. Cause then we could have prepared ourselves for the wait or chose to wait on the $100+ meal.

Went with a group on a snow day. (Yesterday). So happy it was open. Faith was our server (actually the ONLY SERVER, BARTENDER, in the front of the place!) Faith is GREAT. She makes a killer Bloody Mary. The place was packed and she was literally the only person working the front and handling the entire Pub. Lost a star because the Owner was there and while he (eventually) cleared tables we didn’t see him do much else to help (he could have been running food, pouring beer, taking drink orders etc). I know this was the owner because we are local, and my daughter, who was with us, knows him. (Thought maybe he was helping in the back or cooking but saw him hanging around out front just standing around, at least while we were there and we were there until they stopped taking customers). I mean come on, it’s your place. Forget that it’s bad business, it’s bad manners. She was clearly overwhelmed and busting her butt, and for one person in a packed pub she was doing GREAT. She never lost her smile or sense of humor. She is a real sweetheart. Black Rose you are LUCKY TO HAVE HER! People.. if you go, ask for Faith and TIP BIG. She deserves it.

The Black Rose is a homey neighborhood Irish bar with great food!
We had the fried pickles and the lemon parm chicken wings as appetizers. We washed them down with a Peachful beer from Highland Brewery.
The husbands had the Bangers and Mash and the wives had the warm spinach with bacon and goat cheese salad. The gravy on the bangers and mash is an explosion of flavor!
The friendly wait staff was a plus.
Get to the Black Rose.

We had the BEST time and Reuben sandwich this past weekend! The Reuben was so tender and ample for 2 people—it really was the best we have ever had. Our female server was new(ish) and we had a great conversation/wonderful service….hated to leave. Wish we lived closer to be regulars but will definitely be back on a future trip.

Staff was disinterested. Waitress spent the night talking to friends. Service was really slow. They were out of 1/3 of the menu at 6pm. My burger was rare, not med-well. My daughters chicken was awful (freezer burnt?). Better places for food and drink on main street.
