Everyone needs to be aware that this is not a place you can just stop in and get some food. This is an event dining experience. And will cost you. I got stranded in Milwaukee for a few hours and wanted to try an institutional place. I got the schnitzel. It was definitely not worth the $40 I spent with tip. The atmosphere and ambience was 1st class. The staff was incredibly friendly. The schnitzel was just not at the same level especially given the price.

Famous Milwaukee German restaurant that is so worth the stop.
Our son had been there before and made reservations (highly recommended) and knew the ropes. We ordered two appetizers and two meals for the three of us.
Though we were there at a busy time, Saturday night, we had excellent service.
We ordered pretzel and beer cheese and waitress brought us extra bread because it comes with lots of yummy cheese.
All the meals were massive. We were on a vacation, so we had no where to bring leftovers. If you visit, plan accordingly.
I don't think there's a bad item on their menu. Beers were chilled. I personally am fussy and like ice cold beer, but the family was happy with theirs.
If you are visiting Milwaukee be sure to include this in your plans.

We arrived for a 1:30pm lunch reservation which we made through OpenTable, and were welcomed with complimentary valet, and a very pleasant front of house. The atmosphere is wonderful, lots of very interesting decor including weapons, art, stained glass and more. The lighting is excellent as well. The waiters wear authentic costumes, and the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend coming here if you are in the area!

Mader's offers the same wonderful food, beverages, and service across the decades. I dined there with a large contingent in April 2022 and it was just as good as my first Mader's dining experience with my family in Summer 2005. Delicious German food offerings and a wide assortment of beers and wines. I highly recommend Mader's the next time you are dining in Downtown Milwaukee.

We stopped on our way from UP to Chicago. This place is all about good vibes, great atmosphere and amazing food and beer. Everyone is super friendly and dressed authentic. You won't regret this place.
