Breakfast on a slow easy Sunday morning under the catalpa trees. Windows large and inviting us to take in the world. Watching a barge gently flow through the water. A cardinal lands close by, sings a few lines then let's the doves take the chorus. Kitchen staff sing along with Heart's How Do I Get You Alone. Service is kind and humorous, "sit anywhere. Well maybe not where some else is sitting, that may be awkward." Regulars chatting, softly no one is invasive. Wait staff are attentive, kindly remembering the locals favorites. A mockingbird stops by to gather stories. A patron leaves and the staff call, "have a great day."
The food was cooked perfectly, over medium eggs, crisp country bacon, potatoes and onions. The toast was still warm and had the perfect amount of fat, probably margarine. Coffee was the perfect temperature and not overly bitter. I could drink it black! I hope to come back.
Lore:
Catalpa has several medicinal uses. It can be made into a tea that is an antidote for snake bites and has also used for a laxative. Catalpa is also known to be a mild narcotic, which is used in curing the “whooping cough.

Stopped in on our way for a hike. 4 meals $51. Not too bad for the view, the friendly atmosphere and great service. Great portions too.

This was what I would call an average place. We did the Sunday lunch buffet. View is awesome.
