After waiting for well over an hour, I was served a platter with a side of attitude. I let it go because I was hungry and looking forward to spectacular food. The cornbread was moist and flavorful and that is where the culinary journey ended. The ribs were mediocre, the potato salad was bland, the beans were just plain not good and the mac 'n cheese was extremely disappointing. Since the owner made it clear that he doesn't need my business, I'll take it to one of the many rib joints near me that serve better food in a more timely manner.
Summary: absolutely not worth the wait

Smoke warned me that the hot sauce was Habanero hot. He was not lying and I was not disappointed.
Update: 3 years later and Smokes' is still stoking the fire. Spicy ribs tonight were killer!

Besides the food being legendary. The guy that owns this place is awesome! If your a snowflake and can’t take funny sarcasm go somewhere else. He’s one guy and puts out the best BBQ in the tristate. The brisket-pork- chicken are phenomenal. I drove past the place numerous times and finally stopped. I will definitely be back. Thanks for the excellent food!!!

Every time I drive out of my way to go here they are closed even though online hours say they are open. Frustrating and time wasted. Went at 12:15 on a Sunday hours said open at noon online. Get there sign says closed opens at 1pm. Gone there two other times. One time the guy was there and said he was closed for the day because of a wedding. Another time handwritten note stating closed today reopen tomorrow.
