Sushi Kappo Toraya Reviews Arlington VA

Great sushi at an affordable price. The place is very small however and there is only one person preparing the sushi. So be prepared to wait for a long time. You better get there before they open or later when the first wave of customers begins leaving. Ditto for take out orders.

Excellent food. Nice ambience. Be prepared to wait as it is a small place. Very authentic Japanese style sushi, thin slices with fish or seafood on a mouthful size amount of rice of excellent quality. The small plates were also tasty and lovingly plated. I will be going back.

I have been at the early incarnation of Toraya and i enjoyed the adventurous reinterpretation of their menu. The flavors mingle and accentuate their incredibly fresh seafood. I like it when a chef has fun. I do not like it though when the hostess/waitress shows indifference as it completely silences the harmony of their offerings.

very few vegetarian options but they’re upfront and clear about it. minimalistic ambience is actually nice. service is efficient but not exactly warm.

The food is very good. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very understaffed. There is ONE grumpy server who runs around from table to table. All three times that I've been there since they've re-opened, we've been made to feel unwelcome. The server has, each time, made us feel like we are imposing on her. I kept giving this a chance hoping it would get better. Don't open your doors to people if you don't really want them there!
