Best sushi place on the east side of the island bar none. Do yourself a favor and forget going to other sushi places because I have been to them all and Tanuki Sushi is the best. Great people and great food! I go there every other day that I work. Aloha!

Tried Salmon Avo, Dragon roll and Salted ume (plum). Good but not excellent. Rice more glutinous than usual, rolls a bit soft, rather neutral flavours. Generous portions, but quality just fine, not top. Nice staff.

Ate here tonight. Absolute worst service ever. The hostess/server was so rude. Negative stars would be more appropriate. No greetings, no offer for drinks. When we tried to order an appetizer, she asked if we had tried it before. We had not. She then proceeded to tell us, we would not like it then. She was kind to what appeared to be locals. If you are a tourist, don’t waste your time here! You are not welcome! Sushi was okay, but definitely not the best.

They have the best king salmon nigiri. We came here 2 years before and it was as smooth as butter. We came back and it was just as good.

Oh man I live in kailua and didn't know about this place. It just so happened my family had a craving for sushi at 755pm. Well every other place was closed or closed at 8pm, lucky for us that Tanuki closed at 830pm!! Wow probably the best sushi that we've had! From the rice, nori, fish, creamy wasabi!! Everything was excellent. I ordered 5 different types of sushi and they were all excellent!! Definitely only going there when we crave sushi!
