Went there with my wife, daughter and sister for dinner on Tuesday night. Hadn't been in a while...not for any particular reason except that my general perception is that it can be crowded and loud (not always a bad thing if you're in the mood for it!) Well that might be true on the weekends but Tuesday night it was busy but calm and collected. I got the salmon salad and it was excellent. Food was great all around, waitstaff is friendly and attentive, drinks are excellent (I got a whiskey old fashioned to start and my sister had a martini), beer list is ample. And prices are FAIR and REASONABLE. Will be back...soon.

Brought friends and family from out of town to The Old Fashioned. The hostess sat us by the bar which was very noisy and loud. People butts encroaching on our table! We could not even talk to each other because of the noise. We asked the hostess to seat us in another area (which was available) but the waitress had some snarky comment about “The Old Fashioned being a bar and people WILL be drinking. . .”. I feel that this was uncalled for considering there were other more quiet areas available. She eventually seated us in another quieter area (with an attitude of course!) where we were able to dine and converse. We have always enjoyed the ambience, food and drink at The Old Fashioned and will continue to go in the future.

Excellent food and drink choices. Beautifully decorated with vintage Wisconsin advertising, pictures, and breweriana. Tables by the windows offer a spectacular view of the capital building. Cozy inviting atmosphere. Large bar area as well as ample seating. Great place for a date night or a gathering of friends and family.

Always a long wait to be seated, but the food is good so that is expected. Last time I was here it was also a long wait for our food. The food was really good and I would say it was worth the wait. I had the steak and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! I would recommend the old fashioned.

popped in here for a quick snack a few days ago. the cheese curds were quite delicious, accompanied by a nice little rhubarb cocktail. bartender was really friendly, the atmosphere fun and easygoing. would recommend!
