COOK DROPPED YOUR $36 STEAK ON THE DIRTY FLOOR AND THEN PLATED IT FOR YOU TO EAT. Click to read more… I emailed this restaurant to let them know the horrible thing I saw happen and never received a response… so I’ll let everyone else know now. First, I would like to say that I absolutely ADORED this restaurant. We came from Dunedin and brought our friend for his birthday to celebrate and everything was wonderful as usual... Until I happened to be looking towards the food prep area (it’s out in the open, which I usually love) and I watched the older gentleman with the white beard drop a steak he was cooking onto the ground (on the DISGUSTING anti-slip mat he was standing on), put it back in the oven for a few more minutes, and then plated it to be served. (This happened on July 16th, between 8:40-8:45pm.) I saw him tell another worker what had happened, they looked around as if to make sure no one saw, and no one did anything about it. I’m honestly disgusted and completely shocked that this supposedly “fancy” restaurant could allow such a practice, be told about it, and not even respond. If we hadn’t already eaten and finished our dinner (an almost $300 check), we would’ve had to immediately leave. I feel SO bad for whoever was served that steak and I wanted to say something but again, I was in shock and just wanted to leave at that point. I’m not sure how I could go there or recommend the place again, fearing that that is something that could happen again. I guess the owners and manager don’t care? What a freaking disappointment.

If this depended solely on the food, the review would be better, but we were astounded by the disrespectful and ill-mannered way we were treated. We were a larger group, with kids, hoping for a nice meal, and the manager would not get out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The tipping-point was reached when we tried asking the waitress to remove the candle-holders in the tables so we could have room for the food, and the manager made her bring them back. Simple courteous attitude could go a long way.

This charming, not-pretentious restaurant was perfect before our movie date. Bacchus grilled cheese was tasty and my date loved the sardine app. We will be back.
