This restaurant is an experience. Amber and Ernesto were our servers and were awesome! You can tell they are both seasoned hospitality professionals. They were attentive and communicative. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and it was knock your socks off good. I had the 1905 salad and it was amazing. They actually prepare the salad in front of you. The crab cakes were delicious and the drinks were super tasty.

My friend and I decided to come here for the first time while in town. As a foodie, I love trying the top rated restaurants everywhere I travel. As beautiful and historic the restaurant is, our server treated us as if he did not want us there. As I know people my age (early 20s) may not have a great reputation of tipping well, I always tip 20% and more for good service. I felt that we were being discriminated against. The only times the server came to the table was to get our drink order, our entree order and to ask if we wanted a box and dessert. The server never asked how our drinks or food were. Because the water cup was so small I finished rather quickly, my server refilled it twice before my meal came, then after that I was without water for the remainder of my time there. When it was time to pay for the check upon returning the receipt to sign and tip, the server just left the pin and slip on the table and quickly left as he had done all evening. There was no “thank you” or “thanks for stopping by” or anything. The only thank you we got was after the receipt was signed and he came to pick it up. With how beautiful the restaurant is and pricey the food is, I definitely expect the service to be better and more welcoming.

On the picture on the right you can see the Marylin Monroe room. She helped design this room and would dine there a lot. I found that so fascinating. This is my favorite restaurant in town and I always bring my friends there. The service is terrific and the food is phenomenal. I really like their specials, tamales were incredible. I love the history of this place as well as the kindness of everyone that works there. The free Cuban bread doesn’t hurt either, because it’s so delicious. This is my favorite place in Tampa and the only downside to it is that sometimes they run out of dessert. It can be hard to get a table on the spot so make sure to book your table ahead. Last time I was there I sat by the bar, had an appetizer with a friend and then we were moved to a table which was pretty cool. I highly recommend a pitcher of their sangria as well as the tapas. Best food ever!!
