The ambiance is very modern and light. It feels like you are in an art gallery waiting for new paintings to arrive, in between exhibits. The food is definitely above your average restaurant, with well thought flavor combinations and lovely presentation. Most of the dishes did not dazzle me, but the kinship roast chicken is a delight. Roast chicken done to perfection. I was also very surprised by the black forest cake. Overall a good experience, but am not planning a return for now.

Definitely a nice place but the "jacket required" is BS. The service was amazing, and definitely a nice spot for an anniversary. They went the extra mile to make our night special, but I've been in France and ate/drank better at places without a star.
If you are craving that amazing customer service definitely hit this place up.
One thing I did find odd was no hat/coat check at the door.

One of the best dinners I’ve had in DC to date! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, and there was a little handwritten birthday note at the table when we arrived. Food was amazing; we truly loved everything we ordered (the potatoes served with the ribeye were too salty, though). Drinks were good too. Service was awesome, and I wish I could remember our main server’s name, because he was incredible. In summary, I highly recommend this spot for your next special occasion!!

Everything about Kinship is an experience worth having again and again, from the menu items and cooking style, to the cocktails and general ambiance. A neighborhood gem I love for date nights, sharing an amazing meal with friends, or to show off some good DC eats and drinks when someone comes to visit. Unlike some Michelin Star restaurants you will not leave hungry.
