The Stable Grill has arguably the best Friday night fish fry in Madison. Staff is always friendly, and service is prompt. They don't take reservations for the Stable Grill, so get there early to avoid a long wait. Better yet, head there Wednesday for the same great fish fry without the crowds!

Best food I've had in my entire life. I'm not exaggerating. I had John's Popover. This place is a hidden (quite literally) gem. It's outstanding and unlike any other dining you have had. I promise. The stable, the house, the hidden tunnel.
The service is excellent. Would recommend this place to everybody. Would absolutely have my wedding reception here.

What great local specialities! I had the Trout as part of the 3 course menu. It was prepared scrumptiously and I had a hard time to finish, my wife had to bring some of hers home. I had just enough room for my desert. We'll be back maybe on a Thursday night!

Ate in the house, cozy atmosphere, and wonderful staff. Our waiter was exceptional. Some places will try to get you in and out quickly to serve the next group but we never felt pressured or rushed. The steak medallions were so tender and expertly cooked. The cheese potato was also delicious and I highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. Will definitely go back, but beware the reservations fill up fast for good reason!
