We had been here and the location is STUNNING! We were able to sit outside overlooking the marina. The staff was lovely. I had the shrimp fritters and they were very good! I also had the green goddess salad - good but not bland. My sister had fried haddock sandwich. She enjoyed it but fries had a fishy taste - perhaps shared oil? Overall would go back.

The Saltwater Grille is a great little tucked away spot in South Portland! It doesn’t seem too touristy. There is a huge menu with a seafood focus, but the menu offers a little of everything— so something for everyone! Definitely ask to sit on the deck, you won’t regret it! Their wine list is extensive. We loved the dry rose (pictures) it was delicious! Call ahead for a reservation, plenty of parking, friendly staff! Be sure to go for sunset!

I try not to write off a restaurant after one bad experience, but we’ve gone enough times that I feel confident this place isn’t worth the money. I’ve had some great times here, but for what’s easily going to be a $100 meal for two, you get what averages out to dive-bar level service. No fault of the servers, but about a third of the time something just weird happens. Food taking an hour one day, entrees arriving before first beer/wine the next, or happy hour being advertised online then discontinued in store. If you are looking for good views this is the spot, if you’re looking for a good experience I have other recommendations.
