Horse Inn is fine, but I don't understand all of the local hype. The cocktails are top notch. I'll give them that. Very creative and unique while still being delicious. Service was also solid and staff are friendly. However, the food was nothing special and prices are VERY high for the selection, quality, and portion sizes. The menu is supposedly updated daily, but I've only ever seen 1 or 2 items rotate on or off. On top of that, they do back-of-house service fee to support the non-tipped employees. Ordinarily I support that sort of thing, but in this case the food prices + the fee did not seem justified. For the same price (or less to be honest) you can eat at quite a few higher-end places in the city and surrounding areas. Maybe we'll be back for drinks on a live music night, but we'll pass on dinner.

Dined in the Horse Inn for the first time since the pandemic. We had a great meal (daily special fish, and a burger) after a nice cocktail, and with wine/beer. The food was excellent (especially recommend the Horse Fries!), and the service was spot on. I have to say, their draft beer list was good too - can't pass up a draft Maine Lunch! We will definitely be back, especially now that they take reservations.

First of all the horse inn is like walking back in time. the inside is very historic and it's very interesting the things that are hanging on the walls the old horse stalls that have been made into booths. This restaurant has been in business for a very long time. This is one place that the menu changes often so you never know what you're going to have when you go. Their burgers are one thing that are always on the menu and they are spectacular! Chips on toast another crowd pleaser and shrimp and grits is another favorite. Their wings are top shelf the bar does a wonderful drink just a matter of picking which one you want. The horse inn is the definition of a neighborhood restaurant and the camaraderie that you feel when you're in there it's just really warm and inviting. The food is outstanding. If you haven't ever tried the horse in you really have to make that a stop on your next dinner out. They use everything local from dairy to meats bakery to vegetables and fruit, Seafood to liquor. I promise you will not be disappointed with the horse inn.
