We've dined here numerous times, and it's always excellent. My wife ordered the heirloom tomato salad, and it was so good I ordered one as well after my entree: fresh and richly flavorful. She had a mushroom risotto, and I had beef Wellington (medium rare); both were cooked perfectly. And of course, the Queen of Sheba cake for desert. There's no such thing as too much chocolate or too rich. We ate outside which was delightful. The server was outstanding. A perfect anniversary dinner.

Very nice place and most of the guests were dressed up because they knew they were going someplace special. The staff is friendly and helpful. Maldaner's is serious about using fresh and locally obtained ingredients for their dishes, so much so that the owner himself (I understand) picked the morel mushrooms that went into the Morel Pie. If you like mushrooms and especially morels you will understand how absolutely delicious the Morel Pie is! I ordered the Beef Wellington. I had never had Beef Wellington before but, let me tell you, it was outstanding! It was so good, so warm and pink and tender, that I gobbled it up before I thought to take a picture to show you how beautiful it was! Next time I'm in Springfield, I will definitely look forward to visiting Maldaner's again!

Excellent service and food, with reasonable prices. The inside was well restored seeing that the restaurant has been there since the 1880s. We had toured the Lincoln Presidential Museum just before so this was a great culmination of a very interesting 3 hour stop in Springfield.
