Fish tacos, black beans and rice are the best! Each year on vacation we eat at the Napili location almost every day. It is expensive but it's only once a year for great tacos. I don't even like fish but there is no fishy taste and the cream sauce on top is delectable. Salsa bar with spicy pineapple is awesome. I would have given five stars except this visit I wanted to try breakfast. I asked an older gentleman who took my order if I could substitute potatoes instead of rice and he snapped at me and said there was no way to substitute because the potatoes would cost more. Instead of asking me if I wanted to pay more he just told me no. I started to just leave but some of my family had already ordered. When it was time to pay for my order he was glaring at me as I checked no for a tip. Then I pulled out a dollar and threw it in the tip jar. I figured he had some type of personal problem....other than that incident IHave Enjoyed the atmosphere Of Outdoor Tables AND Great food.

I want to support local business, but I can not recommend eating at Maui Tacos. There were things I enjoyed like the friendly reception from the staff, but I got incredibly sick minutes after leaving the restaurant. I have been sick for the last 12+ hours since eating and felt compelled to share this experience for those considering stopping by. Note that my wife did not get sick from her entre. She ordered the chicken tacos, and I ordered the steak tacos. After chatting with my brother who stays on Maui quite a bit said he too got sick eating here. There were other gripes like the cold stale and chewy tortilla chips that you pay extra for and the overall price being about 30-40% above what you'd expect. These are simply pale in comparison experiencing light food poisoning. Pretty disappointed to spend vacation time on Maui inside being sick.
