What can I say? They closed Mexicali West, so since that had been my favorite restaurant for 40 years, I have no choice but go to Mexicali downtown. Same great food, but the atmosphere is so different that there's no comparison. The staff is wonderful & you won't be disappointed! 3/13/22--Just had brunch there & it was wonderful! The menu has been shortened a bit, luckily I was still able to get my favorite! 6/3/22 -- Still the best rellenos, salsa, margaritas & definitely the best bartender, Leo!

Always a favorite place to dine in this place. It has great food, service, and some fine artwork by a local artist you will want to make sure you see it throughout this fine restaurant. Casual -nice atmosphere. One of Bakersfield's traditional Mexican dining restaurants in quality and service for many years.

Even though this was my 1st trip to Bakersfield. I made it to Mexicali twice. the staff was very friendly. The food (chimichanga and fried burrito), margaritas were pretty good.
