Living in Texas but grew up in California, I am used to real seafood. In Texas it is gulf seafood... NOT the same. Scales is really fresh REAL seafood. Oh, yum. We had the steamer clams, a salad and the scallops. Besides fantastic service, a very nice manager, and the quality seafood, we were ecstatic and would go back without a doubt. Don't miss out.

This restaurant is recognized as one of the best in the city and it lived up to its billing. We started with the mussels and they were steaming hot and plentiful. Our waiter Caleb was excellent and he made some great recommendations. He noted the scallops which I had already decided on. They were pan seared and perfect. My wife had the halibut after we were told it was Maine halibut season. She loved it. If we vacation in Portland again we'll be back for sure.

A friend and I had dinner here last night and we both agreed it was one of the best meals we ever had! Absolutely fantastic. We had the octopus as recommended by the fabulous staff. It was amazing. My friend had the Halibut and I had the Scallops along with the ramp rolls. All I can say is it all was just amazing. Very delicious, we highly recommend Scales.
