From start to finish our experience was amazing. The setting is bright and inviting. Although we had a tough time choosing from among the many enticing options on the menu, our fabulous waiter, Joseph, talked it through with us, made suggestions and chose the perfect wines for us to pair with each dish. Every selection we had - gumbo, lamb T-bone, short rib, collard greens and cornbread - was incredible. The meal presented a beautiful symphony of flavors and an evening we will not forget! We look forward to returning soon!

If you're in the Hyde Park area or looking to explore a new neighborhood in Chicago, I highly recommend making a stop at Virtue Restaurant! Virtue has delicious, super comforting food. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. My husband and I ended up order the green tomatoes, short rib, mac and cheese, cornbread and honey, and key lime pie. My personal favorite was the green tomatoes and cornbread but the mac and cheese is also the best I've had in a long time. Beautiful and powerful decor all to tie into a wonderful dining experience I hope to have again soon.

From the time I entered the restaurant, I loved the decor. Black and white pics of famous African Americans, small tables, and intimate bar all added to the ambiance. The food was impeccable. The flaky biscuits, the blackened catfish, and the sauces that accompanied our meals took a regular dish and made it top notch. The servers were extremely attentive and they all worked as a team. Overall, this restaurant made a lasting impression and I will definitely be back again.
