My family happened to be in wahiawa and decided to try El Palenque. It’s a hole in the wall restaurant and easily missed. It’s right next to a tattoo shop. Prices are reasonable and they give a lot of food. I had the cheese enchiladas with red sauce. It was delicious with lots of flavor,taste, and seasoning. It’s definitely closer to Mexican food in Texas which is difficult to come by in Hawaii. I’ll be back to try other things as long as I’m here down in Hawaii. Definitely recommend El Palenque.

This is as authentic as it gets. Everything is home made. The very definition of "hole in the wall" so leave the fancy pants at home. Prices were also beyond fair when compared to similar restaurants on-island.
